marked Soller/DeiÓ. Proceed along a magnificent winding coastal road to DeiÓ (Deya).
Go though village. Just outside, after sign for 'El Olivo', turn left
onto small private road and group of houses. Deya (also DeiÓ) is a living
village with a thriving community and this is, of course, what makes it popular
with the more sophisticated traveller - the combination of genuine people, natural
beauty and well preserved buildings. WIFI Broadband. Unusually, five star luxury sits easily beside
a local tapas bar. The Apartment and Duplex each have 2 bedrooms, one with a double
bed and one with 2 single beds. The Apartment has a terrace with fantastic views.
All have been furnished and decorated to the highest standard. Deya Majorca. Deya Mallorca. All are available for
letting periods of one week or more and they are available throughout the year -
walkers and bird-watchers in particular appreciate the cooler months in the Spring
and Autumn. Long lets - a winter for example - are also available. All linen and
towels are provided, as is a cleaning service twice a week. "The jewel in Mallorca's
crown, as beautiful as any coastline in the world" - CONDE NAST TRAVELLER Deya is probably
the most beautiful village in Mallorca. On the spectacular North West coast, the village
is perfectly situated between the mountains and the sea. A charming Apartment, a Duplex
and one House are available to rent in Deya, Deya Majorca, each with spectacular views. Soller is an
attractive town, resplendent with imposing town houses originally owned by merchants
who had grown rich from the produce of the same lemon and orange groves that shelter
under the mountains today. There are many good shops and restaurants to tempt the
visitor while the narrow, medieval streets force modern life to slow down and enjoy
the life style of the enchanting Balearic Islands. A replica San Francisco tram
links the town to Port Soller where boats can be taken along the scenic, rugged
coastline visiting Tuent cove or La Colobra beach. The Carthusian monastery at
Valldemossa was the winter quarters for George Sand and Frederick Chopin where
he wrote his 'Raindrop Prelude'. An excellent presentation by Michael Douglas
at his Costa Nord foundation provides an entertaining historical film-story
of this spectacular coastline. The Arab Gardens just outside Soller are a
good introduction to the Moorish influence on the island. This is best seen
in the capital, Palma, which has many charming shops, elegant patios, stylish
houses and good restaurants together with a well-preserved 14th century cathedral
and Royal Palace. WALKS IN THE AREA From the apartments there are 3 easy walks,
each starting within 100 metres. 1. DEYA COVE (1 hour) A delightful walk past
Robert Graves's house, through rural farmland down to Deya's picturesque cove
(or cala). 2. DEYA-SOLLER TOWN (2 hours) A longer and more comprehensive walk
up the mountains with outstanding sea views. Climb to the 15th century
village Son Coll, then descend through lush farmland and ruined chapels
to Soller Town (return to Deya by bus or taxi). 3. COASTAL WALK DEYA-SOLLER
(Approximately 2 hours) A wilder walk for those with sure feet as narrow
paths hang spectacularly over the sea. Not for those inclined to vertigo!
The route descends to Cala Deya (see No 1 above) then continues
precipitously along the edge of the sea through tall pine trees
rising through private terraced land to the lighthouse in Soller port.
(Return via tram and bus or taxi). Deya Mallorca. WIFI Broadband available.
